Additional policies and FAQs
Most pieces of my jewellery consist of gemstones and silver. To keep them looking fabulous use a silver polishing cloth to polish any tarnishing away and wipe the gemstones with a soft damp cloth. This helps to remove any natural body oils and perfumes etc.
To remove heavy residue, a soft old toothbrush and washing up liquid can be gentle enough to clean the silver and stones (NOT PEARLS). Rinse thoroughly and dry with paper towel or something absorbent!
Do not immerse items in water - so no swimming, showers or baths with all your jewels on!
Put perfume and other sprays on BEFORE your jewellery as these things can affect stones and metal - especially Pearls, Corals and Turquoise as they are naturally porous.
Be careful - Jewellery is delicate. The stones are natural and will break if stepped on, dropped, bashed and battered! So treat them with care and most of all LOVE!
Keep in mind that natural elements and handmade beads may have slight imperfections which add to the unique quality of each piece.
A couple of notes on definitions that I get FAQs on:
GOLD FILLED - Describes a base metal part with heavy gilding (typically thick enough for engraving of monograms, etc.).
GOLD PLATED - Describes metal with thinner gilding (typically applied by electroplating). I ALWAYS use silver as my metal to plate
VERMEIL - Silver that has been gold plated (this is the official name for it when you use the silver as you original metal)
